Who We Are

Frequent Questions

Here are a few Questions were asked all of the time. This list is not complete. As we are asked more questions, we'll add the most popular ones.

If you don't see your question, you can email us at andersonn@discoverers.org or if you like talking to a real person, give us a call at 402-563-7000 press 9 Ext 12847. We'd love to hear from you.

The CPS Foundation's mission is to inspire learning, enrich teaching and create opportunities for students and staff through community support.

  1. What Does your Foundation do?

The Foundation supports the schools by funding programs, projects and enhancements to teaching and learning that are not covered by the regular school budget. Donations to the Foundation provide funds for both immediate needs and long-term enhancements within our district. Since its inception in 1985, the Foundation, thanks to our generous donors, has provided more than $3.2 million to our students.

  2. Why do we need a Foundation?

Our schools are a source of pride in our community. However, instability in school funding has threatened the district's ability to preserve our tradition of academic, artistic, music and athletic excellence. Only through funding from the Foundation have our schools been able to continue to offer the programs we expect.

  3. How can I get Involved?

There are two ways to get involved: Volunteers are the backbone that support the Foundation. The Foundation's Board of Directors is an all-volunteer group of ten people. Foundation and Parent-Teacher Organization events are also planned and staffed by groups of volunteers. The Discoverer Dash, Scholarships, the Athletic Hall of Fame, PTO and PAC organizations at CMS and the five elementary schools, the CHS Sports Boosters club and events, the CHS Band Boosters Club and events, Vocal Music Boosters, and the Matt Moore Foundation are all organized by a group of volunteers. If you'd like to join the Foundation's amazing volunteers, call or email the Foundation at andersonn@discoverers.org or 402-563-7000 Ext 12847.

A financial investment in the CPS Foundation is a great way to become part of the legacy of donors. You would be surprised how an annual donation of $5 will continue to grow.

  4. How will my donation be used?

One of the goals of the CPS Foundation is to be as efficient as possible. You would be amazed at how we can stretch a dollar. In 2017-2018 we funded over $975,000 for classroom grants, student scholarships, school programs, and faculty awards. None of that would be possible without your generous support to the Foundation and our students.

  5. What is the Foundation's Privacy Policy?

We take your privacy seriously. We do not sell or otherwise disclose information about our volunteers or supporters outside of our immediate organization. The policy has no exceptions. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organizations, public, private, or nonprofit.

  6. How can I connect with my classmates from Columbus Public Schools?

Your connection to the Columbus Public Schools community doesn't stop at graduation and it goes beyond the city limits. Attending Columbus Public Schools makes you a lifelong member of the Alumni Association, and your involvement gives our community strength.
You can stay connected and be an active Alumni Association member by:

*Updating your contact information and receiving class reunion news and information from CPS Foundation
*Getting involved as a reunion coordinator, volunteer with CPS Foundation
*Making an impact - Give today!
*Connecting with fellow alumni & faculty
